A new case study is now in the Jenlu archive: the redesign of ssphoto.co.uk for photographer Steve Stephens. Jenlu designed and built a website that gives his pictures the lead while making the breadth of the collection easier to navigate.

The live site opens with a full-width photograph, then offers selected work and four subject collections: interiors, architecture, gardens and panoramas. The complete archive currently brings together 84 photographs. Individual photo pages keep visitors focused on each image, while the about page tells more of Steve's story.

The design principle: give a large body of visual work a clear structure without crowding out the work itself.

What the case study covers

  • An image-led opening that sets the archive's tone.
  • Clear routes from selected work into all four collections.
  • Personal context for Steve's career and photographic approach.

The case study gives a closer look at the structure and visual approach behind the new site.
