Google Search Console brings social and video visibility into one view.

Google is introducing a new Search Console property type for selected social and video platforms. It offers a more connected view of how published content is being discovered through Google Search and Discover.

Google announced in July that it is rolling out “platform properties” in Search Console. The new property type is intended to let creators and site owners see how their Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube content performs in Google Search and Discover, alongside the reports already familiar from website measurement.

For eligible accounts, the reporting includes total clicks and impressions, the individual posts and queries driving discovery, and an overview of recent traffic trends. The rollout is gradual, so availability will vary, but the direction is useful: content performance is easier to discuss when the measurement is less fragmented.

A useful dashboard does not replace judgement, but it makes it much easier to connect visibility with the content and customer journeys worth improving.

What businesses should take from the update

The most valuable use is not collecting another set of numbers. It is identifying which topics, formats and messages are helping the right people find the business, then checking whether those visits support a useful next step: a service-page view, an enquiry, a booking or a purchase.

  • Compare social and video discovery with the questions your website is already answering.
  • Use the data to identify content that deserves a stronger link to a relevant service or product page.
  • Keep tracking enquiries and conversions, so visibility is assessed against real business outcomes rather than clicks alone.

For many organisations, the hard part is still the baseline. Website analytics, Search Console, forms and ecommerce tracking need to be dependable before a wider picture of content discovery can become genuinely useful. Clear measurement helps a business choose the next improvement with more confidence.

Jenlu angle: a joined-up analytics setup helps turn activity across a website, search and content channels into practical decisions. It is especially valuable when a business is improving a service journey, rebuilding a site or trying to understand which marketing work creates qualified demand.
